“Nuva means ‘new,’ and that’s what we wanted, a new vision, a new experience and a new start on dental health for the patients,” Dr. Napoles told Hometown News.
Nuva Dental has a mission statement that promises world class dental care, making each visit a positive experience. Through education, caring, and professionalism, they seek to make sure every patient walks out a healthier person.
To advance that mission, Dr. Napoles believes in training and education. She takes over 100 hours of continuing education credits every year to provide patients with the latest dental techniques and highest standard of care.
“At the heart of Nuva Dental is a desire to completely transform the traditional dental experience,” Dr. Napoles said. “By putting the needs of our patients above all else, we are able to practice high-quality dentistry in a serene and blissful environment.
“Nobody wants to come to the dentist,» Dr. Napoles added, «so we try very hard to create a relaxing atmosphere, with soft music, essential oils, TVs, all kinds of things to make the experience more pleasant. Everything is designed to make the patient feel welcome and relaxed, including the staff treating patients like family.”
The TVs in every room aid in explaining treatment to patients. Digital photos and X-rays can be shown to the patient, to help them see what is going on in their mouth, making them more educated decision makers.
“We are often told that our office has a spa-like environment,» Dr. Napoles said. «The office was designed to be a peaceful and inspiring environment.”
That relaxation goal extends through the days after treatment, with the doctor contacting each patient to follow up.
“I personally call my patients and check how they are doing. They love it and I love it, and that provides them an opportunity to tell me if something is not perfect,» Dr. Napoles said. «Often, after a procedure, the patient doesn’t know how it is supposed to feel the next day. We discuss that.”
Dr. Napoles is a member of the American Dental Association, Central Florida Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology. She considers staff and patient education equally important.
“My hygienist is amazing at patient education,» Dr. Napoles said. «When a patient comes here, we don’t only want to fix the problem, we want to maintain their health, so they don’t have the same problem again. My hygienist will take the time to explain to the patient what to do, what tools to use, even the best way to brush, and what toothpaste is best for you. We look at dietary factors and integrate them into the treatment plan, to treat them comprehensively.”
Dr. Napoles takes great pride in her staff.
“Everybody on my team has an important role. The doctor is only as good as the team. They are all very caring, very sweet, they make it work.”
From the front office to the exam room, the practice seems to be made up of professionals who take oral health very seriously.
“Using state-of-the art equipment designed with safety and efficiency in mind, we are able to offer top-notch care,” Dr. Napoles said. “As our patients walk through our office, they will notice that everything is clean, comfortable and thoroughly sterilized. Our patients’ safety and comfort are our priority.”
Dr. Napoles strives to treat patients as family, with an honest approach to treatment planning to keep dental health affordable.
“We stand behind all our treatments,» Dr. Napoles said. «We know that the cost of care can be confusing with dental insurance. We educate our patients about how dental insurance works and make every effort to get accurate estimates of what their plan may cover. In addition to offering in-office payment options to fit our patient’s budget, we also give them up-front cost information on their treatment ahead of time. We work with a variety of insurance plans, and we offer various forms of dental financing. We are happy to help them navigate their dental insurance and alternative payment options.
“I really care for my patients. I will never tell them that they need to have something done if they don’t need to have it done,» Dr. Napoles continued. «Frequently, dentists will tell you that you have to do something, but they don’t tell you the alternatives. I explain all the options, and also explain the option of doing nothing. They then decide what they feel is best for them. They are part of the treatment, they are part of the decision making process.”
Nuva Dental services include oral hygiene, dental cleaning, sealants, bonding, fillings, root canal, whitening, gum treatments, night guards, and Invisalign. Dr. Napoles specializes in crowns, bridges, dentures, implants, and smile design.
Dr. Napoles graduated from the College of Dentistry Medical University in La Habana, Cuba in 2000. After three more years of study she became a Prosthodontic specialist, graduating at the top of her class. She completed the International Dental Graduate Program at the University of Florida College of Dentistry in 2010.
Dr. Napoles worked for nine years in Brevard County before opening her private office in Vero Beach, where she lives with her husband and son.
